The Universal Mirror

  • Minimalist but powerful user interface

  • Has many features, but maintains functionality of mirror

  • Goal is to incorporate natural human movements

  • Takes advantage of touchscreen interface

  • First-time setup

  • The first step here is to choose a language.

  • When the user clicks a language, a brightness appears around it to show it's been clicked. 

  • Mirror requires active internet connection for most features

  • Can also physically connect mirror to local connection/storage

  • Uses keyboard to input password: more reliable and private than using voice

  • Choosing date and time can be done manually

  • Can also be done by turning on location services (if connected to wi-fi, makes the process much easier)

  • Uses keyboard to input date and time in the given format

  • System uses "swipe password" like smartphones

  • High security but simple functionality

  • Avoids arduous work like typing in a password each time

  • As established before, users sign in with a swipe

  • If the user swipes wrongly, they have a chance to recover their account

  • A guest, with the bottom icon, can make a new account if they do not have a registered profile and swipe

  • Brightness, color can be customized for lights

  • Widgets/apps/entire display can be backlit

  • System settings saved per user

  • Can access different important, general settings through an unobstructive, side-screen display

System features divided into three categories: Primary, Secondary, Tertiary

  • Gets data for registered social media and other of user from internet connection

  • Has personal preferences, like brightness and sound level, stored in settings

  • User interface allows scrolling and manual selection

  • Automatically fills with data if connected to user's schedule and calendar apps elsewhere

  • Set personal events and pipe to scrolling feed

  • User data can be input manually or fed through device

  • Potential applications: visual displays, target tracker, etc.

  • Scale displays current weight and weight differences across time

  • User can access favorite news sites

  • User can click from news sites to see a full render of that particular article

  • Minimizable news feed

  • News feeds can be customized by user

  • Can create unique channels from different sources

  • Ticker feeds data in realtime when pinned

  • Uses screen as a canvas

  • Fun to play with, can also be used as a whiteboard and be instructive (mirrors don't always have to be in the bathroom)

  • With camera functionality could have more features

  • Create notes and pin to any area of mirror

  • Add little reminders, customize with quotes

  • Mirror doubles as a screen

  • User can select music they have synced with the mirror
